Bomberman ⎡ Shiro Yogeki ⎤ ([personal profile] thewindowburns) wrote in [community profile] soraspace2012-10-31 07:57 am

Calling all cosmic folk!

[The really convenient thing about the Elemental Knights was that they had what essentially amounted to an internal mental instant messaging system -- that is to say, they were all linked to each other on a telepathy network. (Though the knights themselves more frequently employed an architectural metaphor of a hallway and doors to describe it, but that is neither here nor there.) This made it fairly easy for Bomberman to find out a day and time when all of them might be free to meet with a certain Person of Interest (read: Grune) when he met up with Zhael for a lunch date. Location wasn't an issue, either, since Bomberman decided that the simplest solution was to host this little gathering at his place. Unfortunately, he didn't count on being unable to do anything remotely like tidying up the disaster zone of his apartment until the last minute due to work and school things. But he figured that if he was able to survive an encounter with the Angel of Light and Shadow, he could deal with a session of mach 5 cleaning.

So the instant he's done with his other daily duties, Bomberman sets to work making his apartment look less like a stereotypical bachelor pad. He washes dishes, takes out the garbage, hides laundry, does basic dusting, and generally clears out the clutter. He also kicks Pommy downstairs to Sheba's apartment (with the woman's blessing) so the critter doesn't derail what is sure to be an informative talk. Once he's done all he can do, Bomberman flops onto his couch to get some much needed rest.

Which is of course the exact moment Regulus shows up, teleporting right into the living room in a swirl of dark energy.

Bomberman blinks blearily up at him.]

You couldn't have used the front door like a regular person?

["I was near the Parashti border for work," Regulus says, as impassive as ever. "It would have taken far too long for me to return here by conventional means." He inclines his head slightly. "You were sleeping?"

A sigh.]

Trying to.

["I see. Shall I leave, then?"

Bomberman waves a lazy hand.]

It's fine.

[Though it's a little awkward to be stuck alone with Regulus like this. But the other knights will be here soon enough, and at least Regulus isn't out to kill him anymore.

"Very well." Despite there being ample places to sit, Regulus instead takes up a position leaning against the wall in a corner of the room, facing the door with his arms folded. "You couldn't have chosen a more neutral location? You're taking a huge risk inviting such an unknown factor into your personal space. Particularly if your suspicions about her divine nature prove to be correct."

Yeah, Bomberman...has to admit he didn't quite think things through on this one. But it's too late now.]

Well, I'm sure you'll be the first one to take her down if she tries anything funny. [There's only a slight edge of sarcasm to his words because really, it's the truth.

Regulus snorts softly at that. The conversation between the two of them falls into silence as Bomberman settles in for a very, very light nap.

Minutes later, there's a blast of both hot and cold air as Baelfael and Behemos make their appearance. Behemos raises an eyebrow as he glances first at Bomberman on the couch and then Regulus stationed in the corner. "Lovers' spat?" he guesses.

Bomberman doesn't bother to answer that one. Instead, he drones:]

I suppose you guys didn't care to take the bus up here, either.

["We did, actually," Baelfael says. "We were walking up to your place when Regulus informed us it would be better to simply skip the front door and teleport straight here."

"It is more efficient that way," Regulus responds when Bomberman gives him a weird look.

Well, Bomberman supposes he can't argue with that one. Startling as the teleportation is, at least he doesn't have to bother with getting up and answering the doorbell. But he's frankly surprised Regulus would even bother mentioning something like that in the first place. Bomberman starts to wonder if this is the man's way of apologizing for essentially just barging into his apartment. Then he figures that he shouldn't ascribe a conscience to an action that can be adequately explained by pragmatism, particularly considering the person in question.

Behemos takes a seat in one of the chairs Bomberman dragged in from the kitchen, spinning it around so that he can rest his arms on the back of the chair as he straddles it. "So how'd you meet this Grune chick, anyway?"

Bomberman takes a moment to figure out how to answer this in a way that isn't going to inspire Behemos to troll him.]

Ran into her while I was out with my friends a week or two ago.

["Heh. Didn't take you for the type to go cruising for chicks."

So much for that.

Thankfully, Baelfael steps in to inject a little more gravity into the conversation. "Do you know how long Grune's been in Diamond City?"]

No. But like I said earlier, she seems to know something about the black mist, which could mean that she's been here long enough to study it.

["Or that she's followed it from elsewhere."

"Hell, for all we know, she might even be the one causing it," Behemos retorts.]

Actually, she said that a woman named Schwartz is the one responsible for the mist. Any of you know her?

[Behemos and Baelfael shake their heads, but Regulus says: "The name sounds very similar to the word for 'black' in a language from my home world. As well, Grune's name sounds like the word for 'green'."

"Interesting," muses Baelfael. "Do you think she could be from La Terre, then?"

"It's as possible as anything, I suppose. But if so, she would be the first person that I know of other than myself who lives outside the planet. La Terre didn't have any sort of interplanetary transit system when I visited it last."

"Well, the lack of space travel didn't stop Albereo from picking you up all those years ago," Behemos points out.

Regulus glances up at the ceiling in thought. "Be that as it may, I'm more inclined to put stock in a cosmic connection." A humorless smile. "Seeing as Bomberman appears to have a penchant for attracting that sort of attention."

Don't remind me, Bomberman thinks.

The rushing of wind heralds Ashtarth materializing in the living room, followed shortly by Zoniha and Molok. "Zhael's still stuck at rehearsal," Zoniha explains, flipping some of her hair over her shoulder. "Something about the director throwing a temper tantrum and keeping everyone late as a result. But she should get here eventually."

Bomberman finally sits up with a yawn, realizing that he's gotten about as much "rest" as he's going to get for the moment. With the majority of the knights present now, he proceeds to brief them in more detail about the things he learned from Grune, while waiting for the woman in question to arrive...]

[Oddly enough, out of all who have gathered at Shiro's apartment, it is the goddess who takes the stairs and knocks at the door. Though she could have teleported as well, there is no sense in wasting her magical energy. She will need every fragment of it that she has if she is to carry out her duty to this world.

It had taken some time to convince Dhaos to remain behind; though he is well aware she is capable of protecting herself, he had not liked the idea of her meeting so many powerful strangers alone. While she acknowledges even now that it is something of a risk--though she may trust Shiro, his friends she has yet to meet are another matter--in the end, she believes Dhaos' presence would do more harm than good. His size, remote demeanor, and overprotective nature would not be of use here.

She had considered several ways of presenting herself, and in the end had chosen to wear a sundress, her hair braided simply down her back. She is well aware it will make her story difficult to believe when she looks so innocuous, but she is willing to accept as much...and the reactions of Shiro's friends to her will tell her a great deal about their personalities.

And so here she is, alone and waiting--for the moment.]
kungfubomber: (happy (default))

I would totally wear that sundress myself, jsyk

[In the middle of asking a question, Zoniha stops and lifts her head, furrowing her brows slightly. Then she smiles.

"Well," she says. "I do believe the fun has arrived."

The other knights, too, have straightened to attention a bit. Bomberman blinks, wondering if he missed something, but then Grune knocks on the door moments later. Hm -- so the knights could sense her, then, more easily than he could. He'd have to grill them on the details later, though. For now, it's time to play host.

So Bomberman gets up to answer the door with a smile.]

Hey. Thanks for coming. [And then, before he can stop himself:] You, uh, look nice.

[Wow, Bomberman. It's a good thing Zhael isn't here to hear you say that. In fact, Grune may be able to catch Zoniha smirking at his back from her position on the couch and Behemos raising an amused (and appreciative) eyebrow in Grune's direction.

Despite the levity, though, it should be pretty clear (if it isn't already) that the six other people in Bomberman's apartment are beings of great power, even given their current mortal form. Grune may be able to sense auras of fire, water, wind, earth, light, and shadow emanating from them.]
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

Ditto, man. Grune has good taste.

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-10-31 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[The opening of Shiro's door does nothing at all to strengthen her awareness of the others inside his apartment; she had already been able to pick out the six auras inside. It's unusual for a mortal to have such a specifically elemental aura as they do--it seems she is about to meet some very interesting people.

...And if she had been unable to determine as much from their auras, their reactions to Shiro's well meaning compliment could tell her the same.

Her own reaction is only a small smile. It's clear his words are kindly meant and nothing more (but all the same, she's once again grateful that Dhaos agreed to stay behind).]
Thank you. And thank you for inviting me to your home.
kungfubomber: (dorky)

[personal profile] kungfubomber 2012-10-31 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It's no problem.[He gestures.] You want something to drink? Water, or tea, or...?
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-10-31 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[She shakes her head.]

Thank you, but that's quite all right. I won't impose on your hospitality any further.
kungfubomber: (happy (default))

[personal profile] kungfubomber 2012-11-01 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
All right, if you say so.

[He turns to his friends to begin making the proper introductions.]

Everyone, this is Grune. Grune, this is...

[Ashtarth, the Lord of the Winds, is the closest to the two of them, sitting crosslegged on an ottoman. His long hair, like Grune's, is pulled into a long braid, although his is draped over one shoulder. The loose-fitting tunic and pants that he wears, in subdued shades of brown and green, suggests someone who leads a modest, quiet life.

Molok wears a similarly plain outfit to Ashtarth, but in his case it could be as much a case of personal preference as it is practicality, seeing as he's six feet and five inches of hulking muscle. Despite his intimidating stature (not to mention his celestial name of "The Raging Earth"), he smiles warmly at Grune, exuding a grandfatherly vibe.

Stationed on one end of the couch where Bomberman had been sitting is Zoniha, the Purifying Light. Her hair flows freely over her shoulders, and she cuts a sophisticated, confident figure in a yellow fitted tee, white capris, and strappy heels. Her grin holds more than a touch of childish mischief, however.

The Lord of the Frozen Wastes, while certainly imposing given a similar height and body structure to Molok, otherwise seems like rather the slob. Behemos' jeans are ripped and his sneakers scuffed and dirty with years of use. His green T-shirt prominently features the faded logo of a well-known bank in the area.

Despite being the youngest of the current generation of knights (and looking it, as well -- one might guess him to be just out of high school or early in his college career at a glance), Baelfael gives off a more mature air than his heterosexual life partner elemental opposite. The Crimson Flame sports a tweed blazer over a white button-down shirt with jeans and sneakers, coming off as a strange cross between a professor and a student. When he speaks, he has a noticeable accent that a Terran might peg as originating from England, though he's from nowhere near Earth.

Regulus barely acknowledges Grune with a nod of his head. True to his element, he's dressed entirely in nocturnal shades: a black shirt with dark blue jeans and black combat boots. In addition to his shadow aura, Grune may detect flashes of something more sinister: traces of Sthertoth's demonic chaos element, the eternal scars earned by the first Fre'dashti ui Sahira for a heroic gesture millennia upon millennia ago. Perhaps it's not quite the same wavelength as Schwartz's own signature, but the similarities are there.

With that out of the way, Bomberman turns back to Grune.]

We're actually still waiting for Zhael, but she should be here soon. [He waves a hand.] You can sit anywhere you want.

[Or she can stand, too, if she'd prefer.]
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: Mild interest.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-11-01 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Grune gives each of Shiro's companions a brief smile as they are introduced. Her gaze rests longest upon Regulus, but she does nothing more than make note of the taint to his aura.

At the end, she nods.]
It is a pleasure to meet all of you.

[She then seats herself on the couch with Zoniha and glances about the room once more.]

I presume you have a number of questions for me.
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-11-01 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[So it seemed they are disinclined to waste time.]

I am not. I have only recently come to this world.

[There is little sense in hiding the truth. If they are as she senses them, they would know she is hardly an ordinary mortal.]

Somewhat more than a month ago.

[She smiles crookedly.] Slightly before the black mist began appearing.

[Perhaps it is unwise to tie herself to its appearance so immediately, but she would seem more unreliable were she to hide her connection to it.]
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-11-05 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I did. It is my reason for being here.

[...More or less. The mist is inseparable from Schwartz, and so her words are the truth. It is simply a somewhat more complicated matter than she wishes to address so early on.]

[It is a fair question that deserves an honest answer, and so that is what he receives.]

I must defeat the one responsible for it.

Out of both duty and desire. I have no wish to leave this world to her, even if it were possible for me to do so.
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: Stern resolve.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-12-11 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Grune doesn't need so much as a moment to collect herself before speaking. This is information she has imparted countless times before.]

Schwartz has descended to this world to free it from its suffering. Someone, or perhaps a group of people, have wished for this to be so so strongly that she heard their cry and was called to this place to answer that wish.

However, Schwartz believes that to exist is to suffer, and so she seeks to remove this world from all of time. I am here to stop her.
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: Duty.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-12-21 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
[She does not need even a moment to sort through her new memories; she knows exactly which angel Behemos is referring to.]

She did not. It was the will of this world's people that called us.
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: Tired.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-12-27 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
We have no place of origin. We wander from planet to planet as we are needed.

[She speaks the words without any outward sign of regret. This is what must be. She accepted this long ago.]

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-12-30 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I am.

[She rises and closes the distance between them and holds out her hand.] It's a pleasure to meet you.
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2012-12-31 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
That is correct. What you have said is an accurate summation of matters as they currently stand.

[Although she doubts very much this information will be sufficient for this mostly divine gathering.]
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: Identity.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2013-02-04 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I have. [Though not as often as Schwartz has triumphed over her--but she most certainly will not be sharing that fact.]

My victory, however, is completely dependent upon the hearts of those who live in this world.

[Knowing that often sounds strange to those she is protecting, she quickly goes on.] Whenever you show one another kindness, love, and trust, you strengthen me. Whenever you react with anger, suspicion, or hatred, it is Schwartz who receives power instead. When the appointed time comes, it is you who will determine which of us is the victor in our struggle.
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2013-03-24 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It may seem strange to you, but it is the truth of our existence. The choice is yours, however, to accept or deny what I have told you.

[After all, she cannot and would not force anyone to believe her.]
kungfubomber: (pouty)

[personal profile] kungfubomber 2013-04-05 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
[The knights all glance at each other, and a contemplative silence settles for a few moments. It may or may not be apparent to Grune that they're communicating over their shared telepathic network.

Meanwhile, Bomberman finally gets another few words in:]

So how much time do we have until the, erm, "appointed time"?
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2013-04-07 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Grune watches them calmly, waiting for one of them to speak. When Bomberman does, she transfers her gaze to him.]

I cannot say. That time will come only when one or the other of us has gathered sufficient strength, or when something of great importance to the world occurs. I cannot tell you when that is. I only know the moment when it arrives.
kungfubomber: (irritated)

[personal profile] kungfubomber 2013-05-18 04:11 am (UTC)(link) we're working with a hidden time limit, basically.

[He's trying to feel optimistic with having gained another ally, but not when said ally is bringing news like that.

"You can't even ballpark it for us?" Behemos says. "If you've gone through this song and dance before, you gotta have some idea of how long it might take on average. Something is better than nothing."]
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: Tired.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2013-05-27 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The amount of time we have is entirely up to you. However....

[She takes a moment to consider her response.] It is more common for us to spend approximately half a year--however long that might be for your planet--preparing for the appointed time. It might be longer than that, or it may be much shorter. Any more than that, I cannot say.
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: Prayer.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2013-05-28 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[He might be smiling (even if there's little good humour involved), but the expression she turns on him is unchanged from the graveness she's maintained for the duration of the meeting.]

So we can hope.
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2013-06-09 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. If anything occurs--if you see any sign of the black mist--please make use of it. It does not matter what time of day or night you call me.

[Sleep is not a necessity for her, so it does not matter if she is called even in the early hours of the morning.]
kungfubomber: (happy (default))

[personal profile] kungfubomber 2013-06-10 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Bomberman smiles at her.]

Thanks a lot for all of this, Grune. I -- we -- really appreciate it.

[Even if it's "just" her duty, and even if he's wrong about where her true alignment is.]
lostinmyway: (True!Grune: What must be.)

[personal profile] lostinmyway 2013-06-17 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[She shakes her head, but then she gives him a small smile in return.]

You have no need to thank me. It is what I am meant to do.
